Honda City to get mid-life facelift soon
Honda City has been around for some time now, and we are now expecting a mid-life makover for the car, especially in the wake of increasing competition from new rivals. A few international blogs, including Noticias Automotivas of Brazil, is reporting that the Japanese company is planning a mid-life makeover for the car. The models selling in Thailand, Malaysia and of course India are due to get a refresh very soon. While no official word has come out on the changes to be made on the refreshed version, the upgrade should get a good bit of inspiration from the concept car shown above. Exhibited in 2008 Australian International Motor Show, the car sported LED lamps, sexy looking alloys and an array of cosmetic upgrades which made it look really sci-fi. For the face lift version the new City should get a new set of front and rear bumpers, new alloys, new headlamps and new taillamps. Minor changes to the grille could also be expected.
Inside the cabin, the car will get a new instrument panel, new interior trim, and hopefully a CD player. Engine and transmission will remain unaltered, until 2013 that is, when a 1.5-liter diesel engine may make it under the car’s bonnet.

Honda working on Brio sedan, to be introduced by 2013?
Rehashing hatchbacks into sedans as value offerings seems to be the buzzword, as far as developing countries go. From the Indigo, to Swift Dzire, to Vento, more recently the Skoda Rapid, every carmaker is creating a sedan version of its hatch to offer a more alluring choice for the car customer’s palate. Seems like Honda (with compatriot Toyota already having done the trick with the Etios twins) is the latest to jump onto the bandwagon. The Japanese carmaker is mulling a sedan version of the Brio compact with the tentative timeline for the new model being sometime in 2013, reports Paul Tan. What triggers the development of the new car is the fact that Thai government, which thus far had been supporting hatchbacks for its eco-car projects may soon bring even sedans into the ambit. This would bring tax cuts and other benefits for the cars developed under the program, meaning lower costs for the manufacturer. The development, focused around the Thailand market (as usually is the case for most Honda cars in the ASEAN region) will proliferate to the rest of the South / South East Asian market.

Goes without saying, the Brio sedan will have the Etios in its crosshairs. We cannot be sure whether Honda will be able to match the impressive space of the Etios with the Brio’s compact design, but the workmanship and quality of Honda products can never be doubted.
One Theophilus Chin has already come out with the renderings for the rumoured car. Does a Brio sedan make sense for you? If yes, would you mind it looks like the one in the renderings above? Do let us know.

2012 Honda CR-V to be slightly delayed
The CR-V has been around for some time now, and its reaching the end of its product-cycle age of 5 years, followed by most of the Honda vehicles. However, if some sources on the internet are to be believed, the new version of the small SUV may not be able to hit the market at the time it was expected to. Thankfully the delay won’t be much The recent earthquakes and tsunami has totally tormented the supply systems for most carmakers in Japan, with adverse effect on the development program of their new vehicles as well. As a result the new CR-V will make it debut at least a month later than expected.
The CR-V won’t be the only vehicle in the Honda stable to have been affected by the calamity. Other cars such as the new Civic will also be affected. The car will be produced in limited numbers till the time everything settles down and all the systems start functioning normally.
The new version of the very successful vehicle is expected to carry over its powertrain from the current version internationally. The exterior and the interior, however will be changed. The new car has also been reported to be slightly bigger than the current version.
Taking into account the expected delay, the 2012 CR-V may be expected to make a debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Motor Show.
