Car Review: 2011 Ford Edge

Ford-Edge-2011
Car Review: 2011 Ford Edge - The 2011 Ford Edge receives updated exterior styling, new engines and a revised interior. The exterior design is bold and fluid, with a wide grille, lower front fascia and spoiler. For 2011, Edge is powered by a 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 or the first application of the new Ford EcoBoost 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. Edge Sport is powered by a 305 hp 3.7-liter V6 engines are mated to all with 6-speed automatic transmission. Edge Sport includes 22-inch wheels of polished aluminum grille with black accents Tuxedo, Tuxedo Black, smoked headlights, smoked taillights, moldings, body color and chrome oval exhaust.

Paul Haggis: I've been a fan of the Ford Edge. The suspension is high enough so you can travel in the worst weather or conditions, but still low enough to be comfortable on paved roads. And as a four-wheel drive, the advantage can handle something that I never had to face. But as a front-wheel drive, which seems a little absurd. The interior is a perfect blend of space, utility and comfort to me. It is very luxurious, but not decadent. The product of many compromises, I'm always pleasantly surprised that the Edge is able to satisfy me. I would choose the edge over most other SUVs. And the brilliant Ford SYNC entertainment system is just icing on the cake.

Mike Meredith: The 2011 Ford Edge has been updated with a larger grille and a new front fascia to keep it fresh. The new 285-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission provides plenty of power, but I recommend to go with all-wheel drive option, not the standard front-wheel drive. The Edge is too big to feel the power going to the front wheels - you get some torque steer when accelerating hard, especially when cornering. It feels much more balanced with the power distributed to the four corners. The interior has also been improved, including shortcut buttons for the center console and two adjustable driver displays in the instrument cluster. Gone are the clunky square wheel spoke, replaced by a new three-spoke wheels that have a better feeling. One complaint: The headrests are designed to improve safety, but the way they force the driver's head rather than creating an uncomfortable driving position.

Perry Stern: the Ford Edge has been updated for 2011, as well as look and feel, and did a good job. Styling-wise, the Edge receives a bolder grille revised headlights, when the crossover a sportier look. 2011 Inside Edge has been updated with a new dashboard and steering wheel as well as new entertainment system Ford MyFord Touch. All controls are smooth - no key - which gives the instrument panel and a high-tech look. Unfortunately, I found the controls a little 'too sensitive at times were too sensitive, sometimes not at all. Edge gets more power in 2011 with fuel economy. I achieved 20 mpg in the city, which is a powerful vehicle of this size. Overall, the Edge is still an excellent choice for 5-passenger crossover market.

2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible - new car review

2011-Ford-Mustang-V6-Convertible
2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible - new car review; 2011 Ford Mustang V6 Convertible — Flash Drive: The roar of its exhaust note alone makes this ride worth the cost of admission. But when you combine that with aggressive styling and a 300-horsepower V6 engine, you have a match made in heaven, a pure joy to drive. This pony car always has power on tap, and it begs to be driven hard. It's also practical; I was able to achieve 19 mpg in mixed driving. Though far short of the 30 mpg quoted by Ford, that figure is still impressive. However, while the Blue Oval has improved the Mustang's interior over previous models, it still contains too much hard plastic for my taste. But after driving this car for several hours, it was easy to forget those faults and focus on the great engine and driving experience that the Mustang delivers. –Joe Chulick

After exterior updates for 2010, the Ford Mustang receives two all-new engines for 2011: a 3.7-liter V6 and a 5.0-liter V8. I drove the V6 convertible with the new base engine, a thoroughly modern 3.7-liter 305-horsepower V6 that severs any ties with Mustangs past. It features the latest engine technologies for performance and efficiency — and it's rated at 30 mpg highway. This high-performance all-aluminum V6 revs quickly to 7000 rpm with decent low-end torque and has a surprisingly throaty roar at higher rpm. As good as this engine is, I did occasionally miss the additional low-end grunt of a V8, but this car has all the power it needs. The clutch and 6-speed manual transmission are also new and spectacular; the clutch is smooth, and shifting is precise. Ford continues to move this pony closer to a true sports car — add the new 5.0-liter V8 and it may just cross that line. –Mike Meredith

cars with impressive fuel efficient line-up driving Ford sales 2011

cars with impressive fuel efficient line-up driving Ford sales 2011 - Impressive fuel efficient line-up of Ford Cars: Increased environmental awareness and $ 4 a gallon gas to much of the country has encouraged customers to look for smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles. Along April and May, we saw this trend continue, as oil prices continued to rise. Ford car sales were able to take advantage of this trend, because of technologies that Ford's pushing the fuel consumption has helped to build an impressive array of fuel-efficient vehicles.

Ford press release in May 3rd says the company has 12 vehicles that drive sales in the segments of the economy of fuel, including four certified vehicles 40 miles per gallon or more indexes EPA - claim no other manufacturer in its entirety line can match.

Many oil industry analysts expect oil prices and commodity prices remain at high levels at least in the short and medium term, given the political instability in some oil producing countries and continued growth economic development in emerging economies. This will further strengthen the trend of fuel efficient and  small cars and drive to turn market share and car sales of Ford in North America.

Ford Insurance: New Ford Fiesta Imprompted Combusts, Ford Takes No Blame on It

Ford-Insurance
Ford Insurance: New Ford Fiesta Imprompted Combusts, Ford Took No Blame on It, A woman from Cape town whose new Ford Fiesta apparently spontaneously caught fire while parked in her garage, is locked in a dispute with Ford Motor Company in South Africa on compensation for financial losses.

Ford Insurance, Dalida Hugo said the car was parked in a closed car in the garage of his rented apartment in Sea Point on March 26, when it is in flames, was severely damaged in a car in her garage and next to the garage, and also destroyed the personal effects which she had kept in the garage.

Ford Insurance, Dalida bought the car last year was highlighted by her insurance company. It had about 12,500 miles and has not yet had its first service.

Ford Insurance, Dalida claimed that she was out of pocket for an amount of about R130 700

Ford Insurance, This included R19 260 gap between the payment of her insurance company and amount of the settlement of a contract of automobile financing with Ford Credit, the assurance of R7 775.12 for eight months before the car is damaged and depreciated value of personal property destroyed in the fire, and cost of repairing damaged garages and construction.

Ford Insurance, SA Ford, on 20 May offered Dalida a R30 000 discount on a new Ford vehicle for a permanent and independent forensic investigators, the statement designated as the official cause of the fire was "an accident" and that she does there was "no indication that the fire occurred as a result of a design error."

Ford Insurance, A Ford SA' letter to Dalida said that the report of the Investigators said the fire started in the engine compartment, the air filter box and the battery, and no evidence of deliberate ignition, pre-fire takes effect or interfering with any components or wiring in a harness.

Ford Insurance, Dalida has accepted the offer from Ford SA period of hire vehicle investigation.

Ford Insurance, However, after expressing his dissatisfaction with discount offers R30 000, Dalida has received another letter from Ford on the same day asking him to return the car loan the next day (May 21).

Ford Insurance, Dalida also said it would charge a fee for the vehicle between May 22 and announced the offer of a R30 000 discount would be terminated on May 27

Ford Insurance, SA wrote to Ford and complained that one person, she felt harassed the company and their offer was completely impossible.

Ford Insurance, Dalida also complained that he had been placed under immense emotional stress and anxiety, as Ford had pre-investigation, and the pressure exerted on him by other tenants and owners of the flat complex repair the damage caused by fire.

Ford Insurance, Dalida told Business Report he wanted Ford SA to invest it back in the same position as it was before this incident and take financial responsibility for any losses he had incurred in the product.

Ford Insurance, Lloyd Marlowe, Ford spokesman said SA discount offer a gesture of good will to support Dalida with the purchase of replacement vehicles and failure to replace him in the car.

Ford Insurance, "Although the insurance company has reimbursed Mrs. Hugo replacement value of a new vehicle, we wanted to express our willingness to Mrs. Hugo." Marlowe said Hugo had seven days to consider the rebate offer from Ford, which was considered sufficient for her to make a decision. The car loan was "a courtesy that was extended to all Mrs. Hugo seven weeks of study. As the investigation is now complete, we have requested the return of the vehicle, he said.

Ford Insurance, Marlowe confirmed Ford SA has a specific policy for handling customer complaints. The company has positioned itself well-being and satisfaction of its first customers and employees with a process for dealing with customer complaints as quickly and as efficiently as possible. He commented: "We followed the same process in the treatment of Mrs. Hugo."

Ford Prediction: U.S. 2011 Sales Reaches to 13 Million

ford-sales-2011
Ford Prediction: U.S. 2011 Sales Reaches to 13 Million - Ford's top U.S. sales analyst provides closed at its highest in recent years, strong in 2011, which could see the industry's sales approach 13 million vehicles.

George Pipas said Monday that U.S. auto sales in December are running about 12 million seasonally adjusted annual rate (Saar) for the third consecutive month, sales and 2011 will be "closer to 13 million 12.

"We have great confidence that 2011 will be stronger sales of 'year," Pipas said.

Edmunds.com gives its December sales forecast this week and is looking for 2011 sales of about 12.9 million vehicles.

The Relatively High Note Ends

The U.S. auto industry has had four quarters of sequential improvement in the Saar a 10.7 million SAAR in the fourth quarter of 2009 to 12 million in the fourth quarter of this year - the highest since the premium puzzle power the third quarter of 2008.

Pipas said in December DDA could be slightly above or slightly below 12 million a wound. The "joker", he said, is the fact that Christmas and New Year holidays fall on weekends, which is usually very busy selling days in parts of the country, but when retailers will be closed this year.

He predicted a close year total to 11.5 million vehicles sold, still ranks up sales in the second year for the industry since 1982, 2009 was the worst since.

Still, Pipas said, "how do we end in 2010, bodes well for 2011, 12 million is a good starting point."

Ford has not issued an official, but the forecasts issued in 2011 reiterated Pipas of Ford, Alan Mulally, CEO of last week that 2011 industry sales in the United States "will be closer to 13 to 12 million euros. "

Two main factors slowed travel sales increased: unemployment and housing.

Little expected employment growth will "weigh on economic growth into 2011," Pipas said. In addition, he said, there are no signs that the housing sector will recover, and "Home sales and trucks are closely correlated."

Ford Solid Performance

Ford is on track to rank No. 2 in U.S. sales, ahead of Toyota for the first time since 2007. Ford's sales increases have doubled the industry average this year compared to last, which Ford to increase market share to 16.4 percent. In fact, Ford has earned a point of market share every year since 2008.

Pipas not expect the market share from Ford in 2011, but said the automaker is looking for growth.

During the 1990s, Ford Motor Company went on an international buying spree snapping up small automakers around the globe. Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin all were brought within the Ford fold, and Mazda, by default has become part of Ford's line up even though the Japanese automaker is "only" partly owned by Ford. Ford parts and Mazda parts are sometimes interchangeable as well as are some of their vehicles. Let's examine closely the relationship between the two automakers and how their synergies benefit both companies.

Ford Explorer 2011: Expert and User Review

Expert Review for Ford Explorer 2011

The all-new Ford Explorer 2011 shares it underpinnings with the Ford Flex and Taurus and the Lincoln MKS and MKT. (This platform has its roots in the first-gen Volvo S80, so it's not exactly a spring chicken.) At 197.1 inches, the Explorer is 3.7 inches longer than the old vehicle and is 5.2 inches wider, at 78.9 inches. It's also 159 pounds lighter than the V-8 Eddie Bauer Explorer we tested in 2006. Mind you, it's still a porker, at 4900 pounds, or 212 pounds more than a Honda Pilot Touring 4WD. The bigger exterior translates to more head and shoulder room in the front two rows, as well as 21 cubic feet of luggage space behind the third row, up from 14. But the old vehicle had 84 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the front seats compared with the new one's 81.

Unlike previous Explorers, which could be optioned with a V-8 in place of a base V-6 — an engine nearly as old as the city of Cologne, Germany, where it was built — the new Explorer will offer V-6 and four-cylinder engines. The new 3.5-liter V-6 makes 290 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque, down from the 4.6-liter V-8's 292 ponies and 315 pound-feet. Ford will introduce an optional 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder in 2011, producing an estimated 237 horsepower and 250 pound-feet, up from the old V-6's ratings of 210 and 254, respectively. All models get a standard six-speed automatic transmission, whereas the previous V-6 had a five-speed. Fully equipped, the new Explorer can tow 5000 pounds, down from the 7115-pound rating of the 2010 V-8 model. Towing capacity for the four-cylinder is 2000 pounds, enough to haul a Jet Ski or a snowmobile but not much more.

Base Explorers are now front-wheel drive, a dramatic shift away from the old rear-drive layout. The optional $2000 all-wheel-drive system is biased toward the front wheels in steady-state driving, but Ford says that the system can transfer up to 90 percent of available torque to the rear wheels when needed. With hill-descent control and "terrain management," the AWD setup is similar to the system in Land Rovers, offering four driver-selectable modes: normal, mud/ruts, sand, and snow.

The Explorer has a control-arm suspension at the front and a multilink layout at the rear. Compared with its platform-mate the Flex, however, the Explorer gets a number of changes for increased durability. Up front, there's a new cradle for the suspension and engine, along with new control arms, knuckles, struts, and wheel bearings. At the back, there's a new upright and the driveshafts are beefier. Electric power steering replaces a hydraulic rack.

Understandably, Ford is sensitive to Explorer safety. Thus, the new vehicle has a flotilla of airbags and stability-control programs. Ford crows about its available second-row inflatable seatbelts ($195) that spread impact forces more evenly across the body than a conventional belt does, which is especially beneficial to kids and "mature" (a.k.a. old) people. And Curve Control, which has the ability to project the vehicle's path and apply the brakes before it starts to slide off the road, is essentially a more sophisticated form of stability control.

User Review for Ford Explorer 2011

Pros:
The vehicle feels luxurious and drives nice. The first time I took it on the highway I was in love. It's a smooth driving SUV with limited street noise. I could see driving this car anywhere under any conditions. Everytime I get into the car I feel like I am getting into a Lincoln or a Cadillac. There is plenty of room in the driver seat even for a big guy like me. The new body style is a real eye pleaser and I get compliments on the car eveywhere I go.

Cons:
I was a little shocked at the $42,000 sticker price for the XLT and I am not getting anywhere near the gas mileage that I see in some of the other reviews. I have owned the car about 6 weeks now and have been averaging 12 MPG around town. The sticker says bewteen 13 and 17. I find the automatic transmission is a little clunky but that could be because I am used to the CVT in my Mercury Montego. Not much leg room in the 2nd row. My 13 year old son complains when he is behind me and I have the seat all the way back. I thought with 290 hp the car would take off like a rocket ship but I don't feel like it does.

Overall review:
It's a nice car and based on first 1000 miles I would recommend it but shop around and look at and drive other cars first. I think it is definitely the best car in its class. I really wish Ford would step up to the plate with a better warranty. I bought the extended 6 yr/60k for about $1250 and would recommend that to anybody buying any Ford. Obviously Ford doesnt think their cars will perform well after 3 yr/36k miles so why should I think any different.

2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid like

As mixture sedans go, the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid is positively one of our top picks. Without a doubt, there's a characteristic cost premium with the mixture over a tried and true Fusion sedan, and you'll still get preferable mileage out of autos enjoy the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. Be that as it may fruits to fruits, the 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid its a preferred decision over the Camry Hybrid and Nissan Altima Hybrid. The just different half and half sedan we'd prescribe looking at is the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. It will make a big appearance later in the year but vows a pleasant drive and spacious, generally-completed lodge to jive with its unassuming longing for fuel.
