J.D. Power and Associates released the results of their 2011 Initial Quality Survey today and Honda's performance was stellar.
From the J.D. Power website:
Each year, tens of thousands of new-vehicle owners respond to J.D. Power and Associates surveys to provide feedback on quality during the first 90 days of new-vehicle ownership. Consumers are asked to rate both mechanical quality and design quality.
Study results are tabulated using a “problems per 100 vehicles (PP100)” metric, where a lower PP100 indicates higher initial quality. Awards are given to the top-performing model in each segment with the lowest PP100, as well as for the assembly plant that produces the vehicles with the fewest number of problems. Honda's PP100 number was 86 (the industry average was 107) and overall seven Honda models took home the top spot in this year's ranking:
- 2011 Honda Fit (Subcompact)
- 2011 Honda Civic and 2011 Honda Insight (Tie - Compact)
- 2011 Honda Accord (Midsize)
- 2011 Honda Element (Compact Crossover SUV)
- 2011 Honda Crosstour (Midsize Crossover SUV)
- 2011 Honda Ridgeline (Midsize Pickup)
