News of the next-generation Mercedes E-Class has already been made public. But these are the first official pictures of the coupé version.

Set to replace the existing CLK range, the new E-Class Coupé is decidedly more luxurious and looks more like a junior CL.

This harks back to the pre-CLK age of the late 80s and early 90s, the E-Class of the period boasting coupé and cabriolet versions that are still popular among Mercedes enthusiasts to this day. And whereas the CLK was intended as a rival to the 3 Series coupé this new E-Class two-door has its sights set elsewhere.

The BMW 3 Series coupe and forthcoming Infiniti G37 cater to sporty types, the Audi A5 and the E-Class Coupé decidedly more upmarket and luxurious in feel. As such the new E-Class Coupé will go against the likes of the Jaguar XK and even the BMW 6 Series, leaving the CL to its true role of luxury flagship.

Most aerodynamic car in the world

The front end and sculpted flanks of the E-Class Coupé are clearly based on the recently revealed saloon and are likely to be just as controversial. But the overall profile is classic Mercedes two-door, with the trademark swooping and pillarless roofline, the stance and overall shape clearly influenced by the CL.

cf3ba5cb2fd3a50e23b8ecd2959dWith a drag coefficient of just 0.24 Mercedes claims the E-Class coupé is the most aerodynamic production car in the world, somewhat taking the wind out of the sales of ‘green’ cars like the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. It certainly demonstrates slippery streamlining and elegance aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive.

The E-Class Coupé makes a fair stab at eco credibility with the engine line up to, all bar the flagship V8 E500 carrying Mercedes’ green BlueEfficiency branding to reflect various efficiency boosting technology. The E250 CDI BlueEfficiency uses the new Mercedes diesel engine previewed in the C-Class last year, the 350 CDI a version of the existing V6 diesel.

Petrol engines comprise BlueEfficiency direct injection 250 CGI and V6 350 CGI, the tech fest continuing inside with innovations previously announced for the next-gen E-Class such as the drowsiness beating Attention Assist system. Luxurious SE and AMG influenced Sport spec choices will be available, the car due on sale in the UK from June with pricing yet to be confirmed. Project Kahn Ferrari 599

Sometimes you have to get something thats NOT the “go-to” supercar. This thing is beauty.

Project Kahn Ferrari 599 stands out in a crowd. The Carbon F1-X magnesium alloy wheels compliment the supercars sleek looks beautifully, whilst the interior completes the whole driving experience.

Passat CC Review

Passat CC

Before it was released, I was raving about the Passat CC. I am familiar with their older models and think its one of the best buys on the market. I had my opinions as to how they could improve it, but they blew me away on this one. The design is a great direction, the coupe 4 door is cool. Yes, the Mercedes has one but can YOU afford a Mercedes CLS? NO, but you do want the design. I’ve always considered VW BMW’s lil brother. The quality in much more robust than its Japanese rivalries. You can tell just by opening and closing the door. Just listen AND feel the difference.

What I like about it other than the design which I already mentioned, is that its slightly larger then before and the interior is very luxurious/sporty. The balance is almost perfect. The seats are my favorite feature. They seem to wrap around you, like a school girl holding a baby kitten. Gentle but snug. Also, the rear seats have a separator. It’s no longer a bench. Imagine 2 separate seats in the rear with a mini table in between. Other than that everything else is pretty much above standard.

What I don’t like is there’s NO INTEGRATED IPOD!! What car company would make a car without this feature! Does anyone use CD’s anymore? LOL. Also, NO BlueTooth Phone integration. These should be a must in new cars. Especially anything over 25k. Next, I’m not liking the ride height and wheel size. The height kills the overall look of the car. The difference of 2 inches is night and day. It can turn your daughters volleyball mobile into Batman’s in between cruiser. As for the ride, it’s a bit loud with road noise and the engine (2.0) sounds thin if that makes any sense. Doesn’t sound tight and solid.

I know I’m all over the map with my review, but I’m writing it down as I think of it. If you want to know more go to VW and test drive one. My final opinion is Yes I’d recommend it for others but for the price (27-35k) I personally think I can get more car elsewhere. BUT I DO like the car… A LOT!
